I highly recommend everyone to have Port Protection enabled for your phone number.
It's honestly not that hard to get this done… you can either call, chat or contact on social media with your phone carrier and request Port Protection. Once you do this no one can SIM Swap your phone number out to another carrier.
There's been an increasing amount of SIM swapping scams. As most phone numbers can easily be moved to another carrier. Once the phone number is moved the scammer will try to use your phone number to get into as many of your online accounts, as most use their phone numbers for securing their online accounts such as bank accounts, social media accounts, etc.
If you protect your phone number, you yourself will need to verify who you are in order to remove the Port Protection and then you can move your phone number else where.
At the current moment this is the only way to protect your phone number. I do personally think that there should be something better but for now this is the best way to protect your phone number.
